Chicago - The Band Worcester Concert reviews
One Great Concert - Zero Sour Notes!
I highly recommend Chicago - The Band In Concert. You only have to be a fan of good music to enjoy the event, but being a fan of the Star Wars movies just adds to the overall enjoyment. The sights began in the lobby of the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire with the display of Star Wars costumes and props. The narration of the event by Anthony Daniels (the voice of C3PO) was delivered as high drama, no dry introduction to segments, and he memorized all of his lines. Then, the actual concert began and the music totally melted away any stress I might have been feeling from the day. I kept forgetting, as I was engrossed in the huge, extremely sharp screen showing us scenes from all six Star Wars movies, that the orchestra was live! I don't know why I was expecting anything but perfection, so why be surprised by a professional orchestra? As I walked around, I felt like a kid in a candy store and got to escape into that magical movie world. From our vantage point, the sound was well-balanced and the lazers and the screens and the orchestra could all be seen simultaneously. It was truly enjoyable watching scenes from a movie and there, below the screen, is the live orchestra. It never sounded like a rehearsal, each note from each musician was right-on perfect like in a recorded movie soundtrack. I guess I don't think of orchestras in movies being made of real people playing instruments. The transitions between segments flowing nicely. This section of the audience could take in everything, I would imagine, much better than those seated up close in front. I only wish I could have found a parking spot sooner that evening, allowing for more time to take in all those truly neat costumes and props. I recommend sitting in the audience where we were seated, at the other end of the arena opposite the stage. Our seats were cheaper than those front seats. That is probably the charm of the whole experience that is uniquely Chicago - The Band In Concert.
